How is pain affecting your life?
If you’ve been in pain for any length of time, you know the difficulties associated with performing the simplest of activities. You know the feeling of rolling out of bed in the morning and having difficulty with standing up straight or taking that first step. Perhaps, you’ve experienced pain with simple tasks like reaching into a cupboard or putting on your socks. You may have even winced one or twice while playing with your children or grandchildren. And you may have even chosen not to participate in an activity you enjoy simply because you’re afraid of hurting. But no matter how difficult even the most mundane activity may be, there’s always that hope of one day feeling like your old self again. That’s where physical therapy just might provide the hope you are looking for.
What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention provided by physical therapists/physiotherapists. Physical therapy includes diagnosis and management of movement dysfunction and enhancement of physical and functional abilities; restoration, maintenance, and promotion of optimal physical function, optimal fitness and wellness, and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health; and prevention of the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
